October marks the 30th anniversary of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and as supporters of FADV, I want to make you aware of a new campaign rolling out this month – #TakeAStand. The purpose of #TakeAStand is to raise awareness and funds for the Domestic Violence cause. It challenges participants to #TakeAStand in a unique way that supports survivors of domestic violence, to perpetuate the campaign by inviting others to #TakeAStand and to donate to the domestic violence service organization of your choice.
The campaign is simple.
1. Choose how you will #TakeAStand: Do a headstand or handstand. It doesn’t matter where – maybe the steps of the capitol, the top of a mountain, or in your own backyard. Try it with your co-workers, with your family or maybe just a friend. You decide. The more creative the better!
2. Record a Video: Record yourself Taking a Stand, state the domestic violence organization to which you will donate, and invite 3 individuals to join you in Taking a Stand against domestic violence.
3. Post and Donate: Post your #TakeAStand video to your various social media, tag the people you invited to join you, use the hashtags #TakeAStand #DVAM #FADV #TakeAStand17, and make a donation to the domestic violence organization of your choice (suggested $30 donation – for 30 years of DVAM).
